Fermanagh-born, Glasgow-based singer-songwriter Peter McMahon’s music blends the many genres of his varied upbringing, merging folk, classical, indie rock, irish traditional and musical theatre into a mix that emphasizes the storytelling strengths of each. Thoughtful lyrics, catchy melodies and lush harmonies are the through line within his varied work.
A strong vocalist and pianist, his intimate performances combine years of singing Irish Trad ballads and choral training to tell stories about the human condition, and the world as it could be. He performs regularly between Glasgow/Dublin, with recent highlights being a sold out headline show in Little Whelans, and the Royal Albert Hall at the Music For Youth Proms (pictured above).
In other contexts, he has recorded for BBC Radio 3 and Radio 4 with the St Mary's Cathedral Choir, and performs regularly in the Glasgow Concert Hall with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra Chorus. He has worked with many other artists over the years, including Molly Donnery, The We'll All Still Be Here Collective, as well as touring Ireland and Europe with the popular Indie-rock band Last Apollo.
Peter prides himself on being truly multidisciplinary, always pushing the boat out into further and further unknown waters. He has produced & directed many of his own music/lyric videos, and also frequently works as a Musical Director, most recently MD'ing Mr Burns: A Post Electric Play (2025) at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
